Make Selection With the Quick Mask

In this tutorial, you will learn how to make selections using the quick mask method in Photoshop CS5.

Quick mask mode is one of my favorite ways to make selections in Photoshop. This is because it gives you more control than other methods but can be very fast. To use this method you will need to enter quick mask mode by hitting q and then painting over what you want to be selected. Hit q again to make the selection. Depending on your settings you made need to go to select>inverse to select only your object. This method is especially helpful for refining other selection methods. It is also helpful to get detail in your selections because you have the refinement of a brush. Combined with a drawing tablet, the quick mask mode could be one of your greatest tools in Photoshop.
