In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the Tile List Component in Flash CS4.

The Tile List Component is a great tool for displaying organized content. The tile list allows you to arrange images or other materials into rows and columns and displays a descriptive label beneath each one. In this tutorial I created an image gallery with the component, but there are many other applications for it. Good luck using the tile list component.

ActionScript 3.0
tilelist.addItem({label:"Snow", source:"http://www.rivercitygraphix.com/images/snow.jpg"});
tilelist.addItem({label:"Tiger", source:"http://www.rivercitygraphix.com/images/tiger.jpg"});
tilelist.addItem({label:"Pier", source:"http://www.rivercitygraphix.com/images/pier.jpg"});
tilelist.addItem({label:"Hiker", source:"http://www.rivercitygraphix.com/images/hiker.jpg"});

tilelist.columnWidth = 125;
tilelist.rowHeight = 85;
tilelist.columnCount = 4;
tilelist.rowCount = 1;

var imgurl:String = "http://www.rivercitygraphix.com/images/snow.jpg";
var myrequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(imgurl);
myloader.scaleContent = true;
myloader.load(myrequest);

tilelist.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, photoselect);

function photoselect (event:Event):void{
	var imgurl:String = tilelist.selectedItem.source;
	var myrequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(imgurl);
	myloader.scaleContent = true;
	myloader.load(myrequest);
}
