In this tutorial, you will learn how to make a preloader in Flash CS3.

Many people these days are impatient. They are especially impatient on the web. If a page doesnít load fast enough, they leave and probably donít come back. People will wait if there is an end in sight. A preloader lets them know how long they will need to wait. The more catchy the loader is, the longer it will hold attention. Keep in mind that you probably want to load sections of your document at a time. It may take minutes to load the content of an entire document. Load the part that they want to see and everyone will be happier. Preloaders can be very catchy and creative. good luck in creating yours in Flash.

stop();

addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, preLoad)

function preLoad(event:Event):void{
	var bytestoLoad:Number = loaderInfo.bytesTotal;
	var numberLoaded:Number = loaderInfo.bytesLoaded;
	if (bytestoLoad == numberLoaded){
		removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, preLoad)
		gotoAndStop(2);
	} else {
		preLoader.preLoaderFill.scaleX = numberLoaded/bytestoLoad;
		preLoader.bytesPercent.text = Math.floor(numberLoaded/bytestoLoad*100) + "%";
	}
}
